Many vein procedures are covered by insurance.  At Vanishing Veins we have over forty years of combined experience in working with insurance carriers.  Our expert staff will guide you through the process of obtaining coverage for your procedure, if it is available.

Insurance coverage for the treatment of venous insufficiency varies depending on both your insurance carrier and your specific policy. In general, most insurance companies separate vein treatments into two categories—those that are deemed “medically necessary” versus those that are “cosmetic” in nature.

Venous insufficiency is not visible to the eye.  It is best determined via ultrasound.  At your consultation we will decide whether you need an ultrasound to better understand the complete status of your veins. Most insurance providers cover this initial, comprehensive screening.

Typically, larger veins that are symptomatic (i.e. those that are causing discomfort such as pain, aching, burning, itching, swelling, fatigue, heaviness as well as other symptoms that may be specified by your insurance provider) are usually considered “medically necessary” and are therefore covered by your insurance.

By contrast, procedures that your insurance provider considers “cosmetic” are usually not covered. Treatments such as sclerotherapy for spider veins are considered not medically necessary by all insurance companies and, as such, require an out-of-pocket payment by the patient.

Payment Plans

We want to make this as painless for you as possible, both physically and financially, which is why we travel the extra mile to work with you if insurance does not cover your procedure.  Payment plans can be arranged to make paying for your procedure easier.  Our receptionist or Practice Manager will work with you to design a personalized package for you, if needed.
